Thank you to everyone that ordered the 2010 Compact Ocean calendar, we did make our target of 300 and rasied almost $3000 for our chosen organisation - www.ygreenmanly.org
For those who have ordered and enjoyed my calendar in the past may know that each year all the profits go to a worthy cause. The receipient this year has just been decided and I am very pleased to announce that a small and very new group of dedicated people called Y Green Manly will benefit from your kind purchases as they start very important environmental education with the youth of the Manly area.
Y Green Manly began out of the need to provide young people with an adequate forum to participate. Y Green Manly is an independent not for profit organisation aiming at fostering, encourage and facilitate youth involvement in sustainability and the environment.
They aim to inspire, engage and empower young Manly residents to take action to create environmental awareness through campaigns and information sharing.
Future projects:
Plastic Bag Epidemic- focus on local businesses and individuals to encourage the use of reusable bags such as calico.
Community Garden- to facilitate or support a community garden in Manly.
Manly Lagoon Festival- Engage young people and establish a ‘youth forest’ (bush regeneration)
Y Green Manly will take part in Power Shift- AYCC (Australian Youth Climate Coalition)
